Ground

TAM grouting

A tube-à-manchette is a sleeve pipe with rubber-sleeved ports at fixed intervals. A double packer isolates one port at a time, so grout goes into the ground exactly where it is needed, in stages, and can be repeated at the same level until the ground is closed.

When to call us

The signs

  • Water cut-off and strengthening around shafts and deep excavations.
  • Ground improvement under foundations, taxiways and structures.
  • Layered ground, where each layer needs its own grout or pressure.
  • Treated blocks at tunnel eyes and break-ins.

A double packer isolates one sleeve at a time, so grout enters the ground at that level only and builds a treated block in stages. WATER TABLE SHAFT WALL P · V LOG1234567

How we do it

Method, step by step

  1. Drill and install

Holes drilled, sleeve pipes installed and the annulus sealed with sheath grout.

  2. Set the stages

Order, grout and pressure for each port set in the design, with primary and secondary holes.

  3. Inject port by port

A double packer at each sleeve; the grout enters the ground at that level only.

  4. Repeat where needed

The same port can be grouted again where the take shows a need.

  5. Record and verify

Pressure, volume and refusal recorded for every stage; permeability or strength tested against the acceptance value.

Questions

What clients ask

When is TAM grouting better than injecting through a simple pipe?

When the ground is layered or the treatment may need repeating. Each sleeve is a separate port at a known depth, so the grout, the pressure and the quantity can be set level by level, and a level can be grouted again.

Can different grouts go into the same hole?

Yes. A common sequence is a cement or microfine cement grout first, to fill the coarser voids, then a resin or gel for the finer pores.
