Water, ports and highways

City and coastal infrastructure is built in wet ground, close to other structures, with little room to work. We seal and strengthen the ground around shafts and micro tunnels, repair leaking pipelines and manholes from inside, and stabilise slopes and walls beside roads.

Including a seawater inrush cut by up to 85 per cent in a micro-tunnel pit 60 m from the sea at Pipavav.

In a city or on the coast, there is rarely room to dig the problem out. It has to be fixed in place.

TAM grouting, resin injection and anchors let us treat the ground from a few holes, next to structures that must not move.

Industry challenges

Where infrastructure owners need us

Shafts and deep excavations

Water and loose ground coming into shafts and excavations in water-bearing soil.

Seawater and tidal groundwater

Ground under the sea’s water head, where sealing attempts fail against the pressure.

Leaking pipelines and manholes

Joints, cracks and chambers letting groundwater in or sewage out.

Slopes and walls beside roads

Cuttings and retaining walls that move, crack or shed rock onto the road.

Tube-à-manchette (TAM) grouting next to a shaftSection through layered ground beside a shaft wall. Boreholes carry sleeve pipes with rubber sleeves at fixed intervals. A double packer isolates one sleeve at a time, so grout enters the ground at that level only and builds a treated block in stages. WATER TABLE SHAFT WALL P · V LOG1234567
  1. Note 1: Borehole with a sleeve pipe, the tube-à-manchette.
  2. Note 2: Sheath grout seals the annulus between the pipe and the ground.
  3. Note 3: Rubber sleeves at fixed intervals: each one is an injection port.
  4. Note 4: A double packer isolates one sleeve at a time.
  5. Note 5: Grout enters the ground at that level only.
  6. Note 6: Stages are repeated, and re-grouted where the take shows a need, until the block is closed.
  7. Note 7: Pressure and volume logged for every stage.

Our clients and success stories

Water, ports and highways work on record

Ports · Micro-tunnel · Pipavav, Gujarat

Micro-tunnel pit, Pipavav

Seawater pouring into a micro-tunnel pit through a crack, after repeated attempts to seal it had failed. Sealed up to 85 per cent by grouting.

Certified

Metro · Azadpur, New Delhi

Delhi Metro CC-04, Azadpur

Two tunnel boring machines held 30 m down in loose, saturated sand. We sealed and consolidated the ground so they could be retrieved.

Project record

Slopes · Nainital, Uttarakhand

Balia Nala landslide, Nainital

A failing slope over 300 m long and 240 m high, crossed by faults, above the town’s lake outlet. Anchored, grouted and protected.
