Railways
We stabilise the ground under running railways: settled track and formation, wet tunnels and weak bridge approaches. The work is done inside traffic blocks, so the line stays open.
Our engineers survey, design, inject and monitor alongside the Railway’s own engineers, on lines from Jammu and Kashmir to Mumbai.
When the track sinks, the trains don’t just stop. The repair has to fit inside the block, and the track has to be ready before the first train.
At Geo Constech, we find the cause below the track before we treat it, use materials that gain strength inside the block, and measure the result under traffic.
Industry challenges
Four problems we are called in for
Track that settles every season
When the formation under the track is soft or wet, every correction is temporary. The track settles again with the next monsoon, and the speed restrictions come back. The cause is in the ground, not in the track.
Transition zones
Where a tunnel floor or a bridge abutment meets an embankment, the stiffness of the support changes abruptly. Ballastless track at these points settles unevenly, and the profile and cant drift out of tolerance.
Water in tunnels
Seepage through the lining and voids behind it weaken the tunnel, corrode fastenings and drip onto the overhead equipment. In cold sections the water turns to ice.
Short blocks, live traffic
Railway work happens in night blocks of a few hours, next to live overhead equipment, with trains running before and after. Every material and every step has to suit that window.

Our solutions
What we do in railways
Track and slab re-levelling
Settled ballastless track and slabs lifted back to level by PU injection, on live lines.
Permeation and chemical grouting
Weak, loose or wet ground strengthened and sealed by resins and gels that fill it without moving it.
Curtain and consolidation grouting
Seepage cut-offs and foundation consolidation for dams, barrages, shafts and structures.
Tunnel water ingress control
Leaks and inflow stopped in tunnels, shafts and underground structures.
Tunnel rehabilitation
Old and operating tunnels: seepage stopped, ground consolidated and lining repaired, under traffic.
Cavity and void filling
Voids above tunnel crowns, behind linings and under slabs filled without loading the support.
Ground investigation and monitoring
ERT, GPR and MASW surveys, boreholes, lab tests and instruments, before and after treatment.
Slope stabilisation
Soil nails, anchors, mesh, drainage and rockfall barriers for slopes above roads, railways and towns.
How we work on a running line
Survey, design, execute, prove
Survey
A level survey of the track and a GPR, ERT or MASW survey of the ground below it.
Design
Treatment, quantities and a method statement for the Railway’s approval.
Execute
Inside the night block, with the track handed back on time.
Prove
Levels measured under traffic and a second survey after treatment.
Our clients and success stories
Railways work on record
T-46 P2, Sangaldan, USBRL
Ballastless track that settled further every monsoon, lifted back to its design profile on a live line, with the ground beneath made stable.
Parsik tunnel, Thane–Kalyan
Seepage controlled in a brick-lined railway tunnel built in 1916, on a busy main line, without stopping the trains.
USBRL tunnels T-1, T-3 and T-5, Katra
Heavy water ingress in Himalayan tunnels, controlled with our resin, grout design and crews: recorded by Northern Railway at up to 2,500 litres per minute.
T-49B escape tunnel, Arpinchala, USBRL
Cavities in a Himalayan escape tunnel treated with low-foaming and water-reactive PU resins: one of the two largest chemical grouting jobs we have held.
Tunnel T-77D, USBRL, Banihal
A collapse at the crown left an 8 to 10 m cavity in fractured, water-bearing rock, and the ground above began to settle.
- Sumber Yard, USBRLGrouting to re-level settled ballastless track slabWork completion certificate, June 2025. Performance: Satisfactory. Certified
- Slope restoration, Godhra–Ratlam sectionSlope restored by PU and cement grouting; completed in December 2023, ahead of the contract dateCompletion certificate, September 2024. Certified
